Removal Procedure

1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

2. Remove the engine side panel on the right side of the machine.

3. Remove ground strap (1) and negative cable (2) from electric starting motor (3) .

4. Remove positive cable (4) and harness assembly (5) from starter solenoid (6) .

5. Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (3), as shown.

6. Remove bolts (7). Remove electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

Installation Procedure

1. Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (3), as shown.

2. Install electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

3. Install bolts (7). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 215 ± 40 N·m (159 ± 30 lb ft).

4. Install ground strap (1) and negative cable (2) to electric starting motor (3). Tighten the nut to a torque of 30.5 ± 3.5 N·m (270 ± 31 lb in).

5. Install positive cable (4) to starter solenoid (6). Tighten the nut to a torque of 30.5 ± 3.5 N·m (270 ± 31 lb in).

6. Install harness assembly (5) to starter solenoid (6). Tighten the nut to a torque of 2.25 ± .25 N·m (20 ± 2 lb in).

7. Install the engine side panel on the right side of the machine.

8. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
