Personal injury can result from the sudden release of high pressure oil. Be sure the engine has been shut off for a minimum of five minutes to be sure that the accumulator pressure is zero. The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Do not loosen or remove the valve or cap from the top of the accumulator. A purge screw at the bottom of the accumulator can be used to release the pressure that is left in the system. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
- Purge the track tension system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Accumulator - Test and Charge" in order to release the hydraulic oil pressure in the accumulator.

Illustration 1 g01070960 - Disconnect hose assembly (1) from accumulator (3).
- Loosen bolts (2). Remove accumulator (3) from the clamp assemblies.
- Position accumulator (3) in the clamp assemblies. Tighten bolts (2).
- Install hose assembly (1) on accumulator (3).
- Charge the track tension system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Accumulator - Test and Charge" for the correct procedure.
