Start By:
- Remove the piston pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (All Wheel Drive) - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.
Note: Put orientation and location marks on all fittings for installation purposes.

Note: Remove paint and measure the distance from the side of actuator (18) to the face of retainer (22). Record this measurement for assembly.
- Loosen nuts (21). Remove retainers (22) from actuator (18) .

- Remove retaining ring (36). Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press. Use Tooling (C) to remove retaining ring (36) .

Note: Heat bolts (56) in order to remove the bolts from the swashplate, if necessary. If bolts (56) require heat apply heat to the head of bolts (56). Heat the bolts to a maximum temperature of 204 °C (400 °F).
- Remove bolts (56) on control pistons (57) on one side of housing (11) .
- Remove control pistons (57) from housing (11) .
