This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS44207" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The existing swing drive can leak the hydraulic oil from the swing motor on certain 312D, 312D GC, 312D LC, 312E, 312E L, and 313D Excavators. If the existing swing motor leaks oil excessively it can/will damage the lip seal of swing motor and might cause swing hesitation.

Rework Procedure

1. In case of fixing problem for After Failure, replace the failed lip seal of swing motor with the 099-0321 Lip Seal. First replace the 444-2033 Bushing, 099-0331 Ring, and 6F-4718 O-ring Seal.

In case of the Before Failure, this program does not use the 099-0321 Lip Seal. Replace only the 444-2033 Bushing, 099-0331 Ring, and 6F-4718 O-ring Seal.

Refer to Image1.1.1 for the location of the lip seal. Refer to REHS7547, Special Instruction, "Rework Procedure for the Swing Motor Bushing on Certain 311D through 314D and 312E Excavators", for additional information in order to complete rework of the bushing/ring.

Refer to Image1.1.2 for the location of the 444-2033 Bushing, 099-0331 Ring, and 6F-4718 O-ring Seal.

2. Replace the 148-8347 Elbow located at the make up port of the swing motor to a 235-3611 Elbow Adapter with 3D-2824 O-ring Seal and 6V-9746 O-ring Seal. Refer to Image1.2.1 for the location of the elbow.

3. Install an additional drain line by using 262-1048 Hose Assembly, and covered with a 7I-7439 Guard. Refer to Image1.3.1.

4. Remove the 286-6461 Hose Assembly from the tee assembly. Refer to Image1.4.1.

5. Install two new 6V-8398 O-Ring Seals onto new 6V-9837 Tee Adapter. Install the 6V-9837 Tee Adapter to the tee assembly. Tighten to a specified torque of 76 +/- 4 N.m.

6. Attach the 262-1048 Hose Assembly and remove the 286-6461 Hose Assembly from the 6V-9837 Tee Adapter. Tighten to a specified torque of 76 +/- 4 N.m. Refer to Image1.6.1.

7. Remove the bolt and washer from rear side of the hydraulic tank in order to detach the 6D-4246 Clip on the 286-6461 Hose Assembly. Remove the clip from the hose, and then install the clip upside-down to the hose. Refer to the Image1.7.1.

8. Attach a new 1S-0994 Loop Clip to the 262-1048 Hose Assembly. Reinstall the 286-6461 Hose Assembly to 6V-9837 Tee Adapter. Tighten to a specified torque of 74 +/- 4 N.m. Then attach the 1S-0994 Loop Clip to the 262-1048 Hose Assembly and 6D-4246 Clip with 286-6461 Hose Assembly to the rear side of the hydraulic tank with removed bolt and washer. Tighten to a specified torque of 55 +/- 10 N.m. Refer to the Image1.8.1.

9. Remove the plug and seal from the air emission port of the swing motor. Refer to Image1.9.1.

10. Install a new 6V-8398 O-ring Seal and a 3J-1907 O-ring Seal onto the new 8T-6876 Elbow Adapter.

11. Install the 8T-6876 Elbow Adapter to the swing motor. Tighten the elbow adapter to a specified torque of 55 +/- 8 N.m.

12. Attach the 262-1048 Hose Assembly to the 8T-6876 Elbow Adapter. Tighten the elbow adapter to a specified torque of 76 +/- 4 N.m.

13. Tie up the 262-1048 Hose Assembly with the pilot lines group (C) with 7K-1181 Cable Strap. Refer to Image1.11.1 for the mounting angles.

NOTE: Sharp corners at each strap cutting edge are NOT allowed.

14. In case of After Failure, fill the hydraulic tank with oil. A maximum of 40 liters of hydraulic oil is allowed.
