(1) Remove all dirt from governor cover (1). Remove the eight screws from the cover. Carefully remove cover (1) making sure no foreign material enters the governor.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove fuel ratio control assembly (2) from governor. The assembly is shown removed for illustrative purposes only in this instruction.
(2) Use long nose pliers to disconnect restoring spring (3) from piston guide pin (4) at location (A). Some late model assemblies do not have two guide pins (5); however, installation of loading spring is the same.
(3) To install 2W8511 Cam Loading Spring (6), hold the spring close to the bent end and position the spring over piston guide pin (4) as shown.
NOTICE |
---|
Be careful not to drop the spring into the governor. If the spring is dropped into the governor, it must be removed or damage to the engine can result. |
(4) Put the bent end of spring (6) over limiter piston (7) as shown.
(5) Position end (B) of the spring (opposite bent end) behind guide pin (4) and the spacer as shown.
(6) Fasten bent end of spring (6) over fuel limiter cam (8) as shown.
(7) Connect restoring spring (3) to piston guide pin (4).
NOTICE |

Rotation of the disconnected restoring spring in either direction will change the working length of the spring. Restoring spring (3) must be installed in its original position. |
(8) Install the cover and eight screws on the governor. Tighten the screws to a torque of 1.7 to 2.0 Nm (15 to 18 lb-in).
