Required Parts for (S/N: TWG; RJS) Machines
Item  Qty  Part Number  Description
489-8200  Damper Guard As
167-8130  Damper (Non-Finned) (If Required)
489-8202  Template (If Required)(1)
8T-4121  Hard Washer
8T-4195  Bolt
(1) The template is only required for (S/N: RJS) D9Ts, (S/N: TWG) D9Ts with engine (S/N: TXW1-2420), and (S/N: REX) D9Tswith engine (S/N: RDP1-3464)

Installation Procedure

  1. Lower and Remove the front hinged bottom guard and remove the chin guard. Remove debris from guards.

  2. Remove engine damper (2).

  3. Inspect damper (2) for damage. Look for leaks, worn welds, worn corners, or dents. If desired, use ultrasonic measuring equipment to determine the thickness of the damper case. Damper guard (1) is approximately 6 mm (0.24 inch) thick when new. Guard (1) should be at least 5 mm (0.20 inch) thick to reuse. Damper case (2) is approximately 4 mm (0.16 inch) thick when new and should be at least 3.5 mm (0.14 inch) thick to reuse.

  4. Clean the front engine mounting area. If engine already has mounting holes, skip to Step 6. If the engine does not have mounting holes use template (3) to mark four holes to be drilled and tapped. Large hole (A) in template (3) should be roughly concentric with the hole in the front engine mount.

  5. Drill four holes (B) using a 8.5 mm (0.335 inch) or 21/64 drill bit. Thread four holes using a M10-1.5 tap.

Note: The reversing fan line P-clips (C) may need to be loosened and the hose pulled aside for clearance to position drill.

  6. Reinstall damper (2) and install damper guard assembly (1) using four washers (4) and four bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (40 ± 7 lb ft). Check for the proper clearance around damper (2) and guard (1).

  7. Reinstall the bottom guards.
