UPS 250 and UPS 300 Uninterruptible Power Supplies Caterpillar

Device Bus Network

Usage:

UPS 250 APZ

Modbus

Modbus allows monitoring of the system via an RS-485(RTU) serial connection or an ethernet TCP interface when the UPS is equipped with the "Ethernet" option.

Note: The Modbus Field Option requires System Input/Output Daughter Board (SIOD).

Note: The operating parameter that is used to enable the Modbus must be set by Caterpillar for any of the configurations (Modbus). Look at the "Show Configuration" page on the LCD display or type "CTRL-N" from UPS View in order to verify that Modbus is enabled. Contact Caterpillar Field Service if the system is not enabled.

The type of connection can be either Modbus TCP (Ethernet) or Modbus RTU (RS485 serial). The following types of RS485 connections are supported: Half Duplex (2-wire) and Full Duplex (4-wire).

Note: Each MMU must have a unique ID number when Modbus RTU is used.

Setup

Use UPS View in order to set up Modbus. Use the following procedure in order to set up the UPS View password.
