Camshaft - Install

- Carefully install camshaft (6) in the cylinder block.
- Orient timing mark (3) with the corresponding timing mark on the crankshaft idler gear.
- Orient timing mark (5) with the corresponding timing mark on the high-pressure fuel pump gear.
Note: Older versions will not have timing mark (5).
- Install thrust plate (4).
- If necessary, rotate camshaft gear (1) in order to access thrust plate (4). Install bolts (2).
- Ensure that the No. 1 cylinder is at the top center compression stroke. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center Position for No. 1 Piston".
- Ensure that the timing marks on the following gears are aligned: the camshaft drive gear, the idler gear and the crankshaft gear.
- Remove Tooling (B).

End By:
- Install the front cover.
- Install the rocker arms and the pushrods.
- Install the vibration damper and the pulley.
