ReferenceRefer to Special Instruction, REHS3079, "Modes of Failure for Quick Disconnect Connectors". The referenced publication provides information for the determination of warranty claims.
Many of the warranty claims for the failures of the quick disconnect connectors are due to the misuse of the couplings. One common cause of failure is the entry of debris. The work tool lines are connected with the machine before the debris is properly removed. Another common cause of failure is the use of force in order to disconnect the auxiliary lines and failure to use the proper procedure for the release of hydraulic pressure.
Caterpillar has changed the warranty information for the claims against the quick disconnect connectors. The mechanical processing of warranty claims will be discontinued. Component failures that are due to misuse will not be paid. Failures for defects in material or workmanship will continue to be paid. The affected part numbers are listed in Table 1.
