UPS Shutdown

Usage:

ES12F CZE

UPS/SMS with Maintenance Bypass Option

This procedure describes how to shut down the UPS/SMS when the "Maintenance Bypass Option" is present.

  1. Transfer the UPS/SMS system to "Bypass Mode". Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Transfer to Bypass Mode" section of this manual for more information.

  1. Confirm that the UPS/SMS is in "Bypass Mode" by observing the "System Mode" box on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) "One Line" page.

  1. Open the Manintenance Bypass cabinet door. The "Transfer to Maintenance Bypass" button should illuminate with a green light.

  1. Press and Hold the "Transfer to Maintenance Bypass" button until the green light turns off. The system transfers to "Maintenance Bypass Mode".

Note: Be sure to keep the button pressed until the green light turns, indicating that transfer to Maintenance Bypass is complete.

  1. Confirm the UPS/SMS is in Maintenance Bypass Mode by observing the Graphical User Interface (GUI) One Line diagram.

The Maintenance Bypass Breaker (MBP) should be closed and the Output Isolation Switch (K5) should be open. The One Line diagram should indicate a green path or yellow path from "Maintenance Bypass Input" to "Maintenance Bypass Output".

  1. Remove facility power from the UPS/SMS systems main input.

Note: The "Maintenance Bypass Option" must have its own input from the same source.

UPS/SMS without Maintenance Bypass Option

This procedure describes how to shut down the UPS/SMS when the "Mantenance Bypass Option" is not present.

Note: Shut down results in a loss of load voltage unless an external wrap-around bypass is employed.

Note: If an external wrap-around bypass is present, follow the applicable operating instructions to transfer to "Maintenance Bypass Mode" in order to maintain voltage to the load.

Note: Ensure that the wrap-around bypass is in the correct state before continuing. Failure to do so may result in the loss of voltage to the load or a backfeed voltage on the UPS/SMS output.

  1. Remove facility power from the UPS/SMS systems main input.

  1. Ensure that there is no voltage present on the UPS/SMS.

MMU

This procedure describes how to shut down a single MMU in a paralleled system.

  1. Transfer the UPS/SMS system to "Offline Mode". Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Transfer to Bypass Mode" section of this manual for more information.

  1. Confirm that the MMU is in "Offline Mode" by observing the "System Mode" box on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) "One Line" page.

  1. Open the Parallel Bus Input Breaker (PIB) in the Parallel Control Cabinet (PCC), if present.

  1. Remove facility power from the MMU systems main input.

  1. Ensure that there is no voltage present on the MMU.

Autostart to Pre-Charge

This procedure can only be done when the UPS/SMS is in "Internal Bypass Mode". Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Transfer to Bypass Mode" section of this manual for more information.

"Autostart to Pre-Charge" is done to the UPS/SMS or MMU to pre-charge the DC bus and is associated with components in the Controls, Inverter, and Flywheel Cabinets.

The "Autostart to Pre-Charge" command can be executed via "CSView" and is located under Menu > Commands > Command Group 1 > Autostart to Pre-Charge. Execution of this command can be performed using the Alt-P keystrokes.

Put the UPS/SMS or MMU in "Bypass Mode".

Autostart to Inverters

This procedure can only be done when the UPS/SMS or MMU is in "Internal Bypass Mode". Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Transfer to Bypass Mode" section of this manual for more information.

The "Autostart to Inverters" command is executed to check functionality of the inverters in the Inverter cabinet.

This command should be performed whenever maintenance has been performed on the DC components of the UPS/SMS or MMU.

The "Autostart to Pre-Charge" command can be executed via "CSView" and is located under Menu > Commands > Command Group 1 > Autostart to Inverters. Execution of this command can be performed using the Alt-I keystrokes.
