Electronic Control Module (Generator Set) - Flash Program
Perform the following procedure in order to flash program the electronic control module (ECM) for the generator set. The ECM is flashed in order to upgrade the software. Flash programming of the ECM must also be done if the ECM has been replaced. The Cat ET contains the program WinFlash. WinFlash is used in order to load (flash) the software into the ECM. The following procedure is used in order to flash the software into the ECM.
Procedure
- Connect the data link cable between the communication adapter and the computer that has Cat ET installed.
- Connect the data link cable between the communication adapter and the service connector on the generator set.
- Turn the disconnect switch to the ON position.
- Use WinFlash to flash the ECM with the software program.
