Typical example

(1) Tighten the fitting for the oil inlet port to the following torque. ... 52.5 ± 5.0 N·m (38.72 ± 3.69 lb ft)

(D) The dowel extends past the front face of the pump housing. Distance ... 5.0 ± 0.5 mm (0.20 ± 0.02 inch)

(2) Tighten the fitting for the oil outlet port to the following torque. ... 48 ± 5 N·m (35.4 ± 3.7 lb ft)

(3) Tighten the three mounting bolts for the fuel transfer pump to a snug fit. Final tightening torque for the bolts ... 8.0 ± 0.4 N·m (70.81 ± 3.54 lb in)

(4) Tighten the fitting for the fuel inlet port to the following torque. ... 15 ± 2 N·m (11.1 ± 1.5 lb ft)

(5) Use the following procedure to torque the four tie bolts that hold the fuel pump to the hydraulic unit injector pump.

  1. Use a paint stick to place an index mark on each of the four tie bolts (5).

Note: For each of the following steps, use a crisscross pattern as a torque sequence and begin with the bolt in the lower left corner of the pump housing.

  2. Tighten the four tie bolts for the pump housing to a snug fit. Ensure that the splines of the pump's drive shaft is aligned correctly during installation.

  3. Torque the four tie bolts.

    Bolt torque ... 17.0 N·m (12.5 lb ft)

  4. Use the index mark on the bolts as a reference in order to tighten the bolts again.

Tighten the bolts for an additional amount. ... 35 degrees

    Final torque for the four tie bolts ... 32.5 ± 11.5 N·m (23.97 ± 8.48 lb ft)

(6) Tighten the fitting for the fuel outlet port to the following torque. ... 15 ± 2 N·m (11.1 ± 1.5 lb ft)

Performance data for the fuel pump

Pump speed ... 2750 RPM
Full bypass fuel pressure ... 690 to 760 kPa (100.1 to 110.2 psi)
