(1) Top ring

Install the top ring with the "Up" side toward the top of the piston. The top ring must be installed with the red colored stripe to the right of the ring end gap.

Width of groove in piston for the new piston ring ... 3.630 ± 0.013 mm (0.1429 ± 0.0005 inch)

Thickness of new piston ring ... 3.49 − 0.04 mm (0.1374 − 0.0016 inch)

Clearance between the groove and the new piston ring ... 0.127 to 0.193 mm (0.0050 to 0.0076 inch)

When the piston ring is installed in a cylinder liner with a bore size of 170 mm (6.7 inch), the clearance between the ends of the piston ring is the following value. ... 0.80 ± 0.20 mm (0.031 ± 0.008 inch)

The increase in the clearance between the ends of the piston ring for each 0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore size is the following value. ... 0.08 mm (0.003 inch)

(2) Intermediate ring

Install the intermediate ring with the "Up" side toward the top of the piston. The intermediate ring must be installed with the green colored stripe to the right of the ring end gap.

Width of groove in piston for new piston ring ... 3.600 ± 0.013 mm (0.1417 ± 0.0005 inch)

Thickness of new piston ring ... 3.470 ± 0.020 mm (0.1366 ± 0.0008 inch)

Clearance between the groove and the new piston ring ... 0.097 to 0.163 mm (0.0038 to 0.0064 inch)

When the piston is installed in a cylinder liner with a bore size of 170 mm (6.7 inch), the clearance between the ends of the piston ring is the following value. ... 0.80 ± 0.20 mm (0.031 ± 0.008 inch)

The increase in the clearance between the ends of the piston ring for each 0.08 mm (0.003 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore size is the following value. ... 0.08 mm (0.003 inch)

(3) Oil control ring

Install the oil control ring so that the gap in the spring is 180 degrees away from the gap in the ring. The white portion of the spring must be visible at the ring end gap.

Width of groove in piston for the new piston ring ... 5.050 ± 0.010 mm (0.1988 ± 0.0004 inch)

Thickness of new piston ring ... 4.954 ± 0.019 mm (0.1950 ± 0.0007 inch)

Clearance between the groove and the new piston ring ... 0.064 to 0.128 mm (0.0025 to 0.0050 inch)

When the piston ring is installed in a cylinder liner with a bore size of 170 mm (6.7 inch), the clearance between the ends of the piston ring is the following value. ... 0.70 ± 0.19 mm (0.028 ± 0.007 inch)

The increase in the clearance between the ends of the piston ring for each 0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore size is the following value. ... 0.08 mm (0.003 inch)

(4) Piston pin bore (vertical) ... 70.38 ± 0.10 mm (2.771 ± 0.0040 inch)

Pin diameter ... 69.962 ± 0.005 mm (2.7544 ± 0.0002 inch)

(5) Retainer ring

Width of new retainer ring ... 2.40 ± 0.08 mm (0.095 ± 0.003 inch)

Width of groove in new piston for the retainer ring ... 2.75 ± 0.15 mm (0.108 ± 0.006 inch)

Install the retainer ring with the gap toward the top of the piston.
