Usage:
Introduction
This instruction gives the procedure for using the 1U5753 Seal Starter to install the roller frame recoil bearing seal.
The interference fit makes the seal difficult to start into the housing without distortion or damage. The 1U5753 Seal Starter allows the seal to be started squarely into the bore without the cocking or rebounding that can occur when using only a hammer.
NOTE: The 1U5753 Seal Starter may be used in the installation of many other large seals and sleeve bearings. The slotted plates adapt to a variety of diameters.
Other Tools Required
- * FT1965 Driver
- * 6V3009 Cross Bar (from the 6V3010 Puller Group): Use with the 1U5753 Seal Starter on the D10N, D9L and smaller track-type tractors.
- * The cross bar from the 8B7548 Puller Assembly: Use with the 1U5753 Seal Starter on the D10 and D11N track-type tractors.
- * 6V3009 Cross Bar (from the 6V3010 Puller Group): Use with the 1U5753 Seal Starter on the D10N, D9L and smaller track-type tractors.

Installation Procedure
1. Make sure the seal bore in the rear track roller frame is clean and free of dirt, oil and old adhesive.
2. Prepare and lubricate the seal bore as shown in the appropriate Service Manual.
3. Assemble two pilot plates (1) and two driver plates (2) to center plate (3) with two 0S1571 Bolts, four 5M2894 Washers and two 1D4717 Nuts (4). (Do not tighten)
- * Pilot plates (1) fit the seal's inner diameter while driver plates (2) push against the outer surface of the seal.
- * The plate ends are marked, such as "9P" or "9D", etc., to indicate the tractor model and the correct position as a pilot (P) or driver (D) member of the assembly.
4. Lay the seal on a flat surface.
5. Adjust pilot plates (1) and driver plates (2) to fit the seal.
6. Tighten bolts and nuts (4).
7. Assemble two reaction plates (5) to cross bar (6) with two 0S1619 Bolts (7), four 5M2894 Washers and two 1D4717 Nuts.
8. Place reaction plate assembly (5) behind the shoulder in the roller frame housing.
9. Position seal (8) in the seal bore in the rear track roller frame.
10. Connect reaction plates (5) to center plate (3) with two studs (9), four 5M2894 Washers and four 1D4717 Nuts (10).
11. Tighten nuts (10) to force seal (8) squarely into the seal bore, and to help hold the seal in alignment while it is struck with a soft hammer until the seal is well started into the bore.
NOTICE |
---|
Do not use a punch, screwdriver, or similar tool to drive the seal into the bore. Damage will occur to the seal. |
12. Remove the 1U5753 Seal Starter.
13. Complete the seal installation by using the fabricated FT1965 Driver (11) and a hammer to completely seat the seal.
