Operating the machine beyond its stability limit could result in a tip over or failure of the attachment. Check the proposed lift with the load chart. Do not attempt the lift if the longitudinal stability limit of the machine will be exceeded. Tip over or failure of the attachment could cause personnel injury or death. |
Use the appropriate load chart in order to verify that the intended lift operation is within the capability of the machine. The load charts are located on the dash panel. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Load Charts" for more detailed information.

Depress switch (7) in order to set the longitudinal stability indicator for operation on tires. Duty indicator (8) will be illuminated. Depress switch (7) in order to set the longitudinal stability indicator for operation with lowered stabilizers. Duty indicator (9) will be illuminated.
Indicator (1) through indicator (5) shows the status of the attempted lift operation in comparison to the limit of the machine stability.
Indicator (1) is red when the indicator is illuminated. Indicator (2) is amber when the indicator is illuminated. Indicator (3), indicator (4), and indicator (5) are green when the indicators are illuminated. Indicator (1) through indicator (5) should be observed carefully as the load is being raised.
When one green indicator is illuminated or two green indicators are illuminated, the lift operation is within machine capability. When all of the green indicators are illuminated, the lift operation is still within machine capability, but extra caution is necessary.
Extending the boom or lowering a raised boom further increases the outreach of the load. This can reduce the forward stability of the machine. Machine tip over could result. If the longitudinal stability indicator shows that the machine stability limit is being approached, do not lower or further extent the boom. Retract the boom before lowering. Machine tip over could cause personal injury or death to the operator or other personnel in the work area. |
When amber indicator (2) is illuminated, the audible alarm sounds intermittently. This indicates that the limit for the longitudinal stability of the machine has been reached. Extra caution is necessary. Do not increase the outreach of the load.
When red indicator (1) is illuminated and the alarm sounds continuously, the limit for the longitudinal stability of the machine has been exceeded. When this condition occurs do not proceed with the lift operation. Retract the boom if the boom is extended. Lower the boom if the boom is elevated.
The visual alarms and the audible alarm may operate momentarily when the machine is travelling with a load on the work tool which is close to the maximum weight for the machine. This may occur more frequently on uneven ground.
The indicators may be illuminated and the audible alarm will sound continuously when a reverse force is exerted on the boom. This occurs after the boom has been lowered to the ground and the joystick control is held forward. The system will return to normal operation when the boom is raised. This condition can be avoided if you release the joystick control immediately. When the load is resting securely on the ground, release the joystick control.
Switch (6) is used in order to test the longitudinal stability indicator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Longitudinal Stability Indicator - Test".
