Boom Support

Usage:

TH82 3JN

------ WARNING! ------

When working around or under a raised boom, block or secure the boom in position to prevent the boom from falling, causing possible personal injury or death.

----------------------

The supports for the boom (if equipped) must be installed on the compensating cylinders when it is necessary to carry out work under the boom. The supports will positively hold the boom in an elevated position.

Supports for the boom are stowed on top of the boom at the rear when the supports are not used. The supports are intended for use when there is no load on the work tool.

Installation

  1. Ensure that the boom is retracted and lowered. Park the machine and move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

  1. Remove clips (1) and pins (2) which secure the supports for the boom to the top of the boom. Place the supports on the decking of the machine.

  1. Start the engine and raise the boom to an angle of 40 degrees. Stop the engine.

  1. The illustration above shows the installation of the supports for the boom. Install the supports on the compensating cylinders and secure the supports with pins (2) and clips (1) .

  1. Start the engine. Lower the boom very slowly until the clearance between the flanges at the end of the supports and the compensating cylinders is between 25 mm (1 inch) and 50 mm (2 inch).

    NOTICE

Operating the boom when the supports for the boom have been installed will cause damage to the supports for the boom and to the compensating cylinders

  1. Stop the engine and install a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning on the engine start switch.

Removal

  1. Start the engine. Slowly raise the boom to an angle of 40 degrees and then stop the engine.

  1. Remove clips (1) and pins (2) which secure the supports for the boom to the compensating cylinders. Place the supports on the decking of the machine.

  1. Start the engine and lower the boom. Stop the engine and install the supports on the top of the boom. Secure the supports in position with pins (2) and clips (1) .
