Assembly Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the assembly procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

3. Install O-ring seal (4) onto seat (7). Install seat (7) into valve body (1).

   Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

4. Install O-ring seal (9) onto plug (3). Install shims (6), spring (8) and valve (5) into plug (3). Install plug (3) into valve body (1).

   Note: In order to determine the correct amount of shims (6), Refer to Testing and Adjusting, SENR1492, "Relief Valve (Cylinder Crossover) - Test and Adjust" for the correct procedure.

5. Repeat Steps 3 through 4 for the remaining plug.

6. Install two nipple assemblies (2) and the O-ring seals into valve body (1).

1. Install the steering cylinder crossover relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Relief Valve (Cylinder Crossover) - Install".
