Relief Valve (Steering) - Remove

Usage:

793C 4AR

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the steering pump oil high pressure switch.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


------ WARNING! ------

High hydraulic system pressure. To avoid personal injury, do not remove any hydraulic system lines, taps, or parts until all pressure has been relieved.


  1. Drain the oil from the steering system into a suitable container.

  2. Disconnect hose assembly (18).

  3. Remove two bolts (19), two bolts (20), and the four washers. Reposition hose and fitting assembly (17).

  4. Remove bolt (16) and the washer. Reposition bar (1).

  5. Remove valve assembly (11).

  6. Disconnect hose assembly (3) and fitting (4).

  7. Disconnect the electrical connection of solenoid valve (6).

  8. Remove four bolts (13), the four washers, and split flange (14). Disconnect hose assembly (5).

  9. Disconnect hose and fitting assembly (2).

  10. Remove check valve (7).

  11. Remove four bolts (22), the four washers, and split flange (23). Disconnect hose assembly (24).

  12. Remove four bolts (9), the four washers, and split flange (10). Disconnect hose assembly (12). Disconnect the block and fitting assembly (8).

  13. Remove three bolts (15), the two washers, and backup relief valve (21). The backup relief valve weighs approximately 13 kg (28.7 lb).
