NOTICE |
---|
To avoid striking overpasses, electrical power lines and obstructions, always lower the body before moving the machine. |
Make sure that the machine is stopped and that the engine is at low idle when you move the transmission direction and speed control lever. When the transmission direction and speed control lever is moved from NEUTRAL to any forward speed, first gear is engaged. At low ground speeds, the machine will be in torque converter drive.
When the engine accelerates and the ground speed increases, the transmission automatically upshifts. During higher ground speeds of first gear and during other forward gears, the lockup clutch will be engaged. Then, the machine is in direct drive. During shifts, the machine will be in torque converter drive.
While the machine is in motion, moving the transmission direction and speed control lever to a higher gear will not force an upshift. Shifting of the transmission is governed by ground speed.
When the ground speed and the engine speed are reduced by an increased load or by deceleration, the transmission automatically downshifts. The transmission downshifts one gear at a time in order to select the correct gear.
A downshift inhibitor prevents the machine from forcing a downshift. When the machine is in motion and the transmission direction and speed control lever is moved to a lower gear, the transmission will not force a sudden downshift. The transmission will not downshift until the proper ground speed is achieved.
NOTICE |
---|
The machine must be stopped and engine at low idle before changing directions. After moving the shift lever, do not accelerate until after hearing or feeling the transmission clutches engage. |
The machine will not shift into reverse if the machine is in a forward gear and the ground speed is above 5 km/h (3 mph) .
The machine is equipped with a reverse transmission neutralizer. When the hoist control is in RAISE or LOWER, the reverse neutralizer prevents the engagement of the reverse gear.
Illustration 3 | g00320164 |
When the transmission is in reverse gear and the hoist control is moved to the RAISE position or to the LOWER position, the transmission will promptly shift to neutral.
Return to Reverse
Move the hoist control to the HOLD position.
Depress the service brake.
Move the transmission direction and speed control lever to the NEUTRAL position. Return the transmission direction and speed control lever to the REVERSE position.
The reverse neutralizer has no effect on forward gears. If necessary, the forward gears can be engaged from either neutral or reverse gear.
