Block Diagram for Traction Control System (TCS) |
The Traction Control System (TCS) is designed to reduce unwanted wheel slippage by automatically applying the appropriate wheel brake when the system detects any wheel slippage.
Speed sensors at each axle sense the individual wheel speeds. These signals are sent to the TCS Electronic Control Module (ECM). The TCS ECM determines whether there is unwanted wheel slippage by comparing wheel speeds from one side to the other side and the steering angle. The desired speeds are calculated by the ECM, and these speeds are compared to the actual wheel speed. When the actual wheel speed exceeds the desired wheel speed, an electronic signal is sent to the brake valve for that particular wheel. The wheel brake is applied and the actual wheel speed is reduced to the desired wheel speed.
