Description of Change: Machine flash software (non-engine software) is now available from Parts Distribution via the Corporate Mail Box. The mailbox system is a utility designed to make software Flash Files easily available. This system is a stand-alone system and is not part of the "Caterpillar Network System".
The following message was sent by Message Switch and Antares Gram describing the new ordering method for machine flash software (non-engine software). DEALERS SHOULD WORK TO SET UP THIS CAPABILITY WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE ACTUAL NEED FOR MACHINE FLASH SOFTWARE.
Machine Flash software has been available via diskette from Parts Distribution for some time. Effective November 16, 1997, Machine Flash software will be available from Parts Distribution via the Corporate Mail Box. To order Machine Flash sotware via the Corporate Mailbox an "E" subheader type must be entered that contains the serial number of the machine followed by the model number separated with a space.
As with Machine Flash software ordered via diskette, please DO NOT use words or abbreviations such as "MODEL", "S/N", or "SERIAL NUMBER" in the subheader. Only enter the serial number, followed by the model number, separated with a space. Also remember machine software orders entered with an "F" subheader will be sent via diskette and orders entered with an "E" subheader will be sent via the corporate mailbox.
If a dealer has not established access to the Corporate Mailbox the following procedure explains the set up process. Dealers entering orders who are not established on the corporate mailbox system will receive the message "No unsecured mailbox specified for this customer code" and will not be able to enter orders.
Corporate Mailbox Instruction:

Machine Flash software (non-engine software) is also available on 3.5" diskettes that must be ordered through the parts system. DEALERS WITH CUSTOMERS THAT CANNOT WAIT FOR SOFTWARE DELIVERY SHOULD ORDER DISKETTES WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE ACTUAL NEED FOR SOFTWARE.
