Description of Change: An improved message center module is available. The (Message Center) Electronic Control Group has several features that improve the visibility of the display. These include adjustable contrast, improved LCD glass and an anti-reflective coating on the message center lens.
Adaptable To: The new message center 133-1840 (Message Center) Electronic Control Group is a direct replacement for the 6V-6643 (Message Center) Electronic Control Group. The new message center will function with the old versions of software and hardware, however the contrast function will only work with applications utilizing 3.0 hardware and 9.X or later software classes.
NOTE: When a new/different VIMS source and configuration software class previous to version 9.3X are installed, the message center is set to a contrast level default of 100%. This makes the display very difficult to view and contrast adjustment is required.
NOTE: To gain access to the contrast control through the key pad you must enter the service program code for "CON" (contrast), which is "266". The message center begins to "scroll" through the contrast settings. The arrow keys are used to raise or lower the contrast setting from 0% to 100% (50% contrast is a typical setting). Press the "OK" key to accept contrast setting and exit adjustment mode.
NOTE: Fingerprints reduce the visibility of the message center, when necessary clean with ordinary window cleaner.
