Description of Change: A new shaft assembly is used in the steering gear group. The new shaft assembly will improve the service life of the steering gear group.
Adaptable To: The 135-5283 Shaft Assembly shown in Illustration 1 is a direct replacement for the former 8X-1225 Shaft Assembly effective with 776D (5ER76) Tractors, 771D (6JR90) Quarry Trucks, 769D (5TR239), 773D (7ER180), 775D (6KR95), 777D (3PR79), 784B (5RK23), and 785B (6HK590) Off-Highway Trucks. This change is adaptable to all earlier 776C (2TK1-Up), 776D (5ER1-75) Tractors, 771D (6JR1-89) Quarry Trucks, 769C (01X1-Up), 769D (5TR1-238), 773B (63W1-Up), 773D (7ER1-179), 775D (6KR1-94), 777C (4XJ1-Up), 777D (3PR1-78), 783B (8YM1-Up), 784B (5RK1-22), and 785B (6HK1-589) Off-Highway Trucks.
The 135-5386 Shaft Assembly shown in Illustration 2 is a direct replacement for 8X-1226 Shaft Assembly. This change is adaptable to all 776 (14H), 776B (6JC) Tractors; 769C (01X), 777 (84A), and 777B (4YC) Off-Highway Trucks.
NOTE: As shown in Illustration 3, installation of either shaft assembly (1) requires the new 135-5295 Tube (2) which directly replaces the former 8X-2010 Tube.
Steering gear group numbers and model usage are listed in Chart 1 and Chart 2 for each shaft assembly.
