Flywheel Housing

Usage:

(1) Tighten three bolts to a torque of ... 55 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb.ft.)

(2) Put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on the threads of the studs before installation.

(3) Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads of the stud and both sides of the 4H6145 Gasket before installation.

(4) Tighten plug to a torque of ... 55 ± 14 N·m (40 ± 10 lb.ft.)

(5) On earlier engines, put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads of the plastic-nylon plug and tighten to a torque of ... 10 ± 1 N·m (7 ± 1 lb.ft.)


Torque Sequence

Torque the bolts that hold the flywheel housing to the block in the sequence that follows:

a. Tighten bolts 1 through 8 in number sequence to ... 135 ± 14 N·m (100 ± 10 lb.ft.)

b. Tighten bolts 9 through 17 in number sequence to ... 55 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb.ft.)

c. Again tighten bolts 1 through 8 in number sequence to ... 135 ± 14 N·m (100 ± 10 lb.ft.)

d. Again tighten bolts 9 through 17 in number sequence to ... 55 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb.ft.)

After assembly, cut the gasket off even with the bottom of the flywheel housing.
