Usage:
(1) Maximum length of pin out of crankshaft face ... 6.4 mm (.25 in.)
(2) Thickness of thrust plates, at center main bearing ... 5.74 ± 0.04 mm (.226 ± .002 mm)
(3) End play for the crankshaft (new thrust plates) ... 0.13 to 0.50 mm (.005 to .020 in.)
(4) Minimum torque for 5 plugs ... 23 N·m (17 lb.ft.)
"Stake" (make a mark with a punch) the crankshaft to hold the plug tight.
(5) See Connecting Rod And Main Bearing Journals.
(6) Length of dowel out of the crankshaft ... 4.1 ± 0.5 mm (.16 ± .02 in.)
(7) Front seal group. Not to be used if seal and sleeve are separated. Install the seal group in the front accessory drive housing with the seal positioned as shown. See Special Instruction SMHS8008. Check installation as follows:
Arrow on seal ... clockwise
Sleeve to be flush with front face of crankshaft within ... 0.13 mm (.005 in.)
Distance from edge of sleeve to seal Dimension C ... 4.9 ± 0.6 mm (.19 ± .02 in.)
(8) Maximum permissible temperature of the gear for installation on the crankshaft ... 232°C (450°F)
NOTE: Install gear with "V" mark to the outside.
(9) Rear seal group. Not to be used if seal and sleeve are separated. Install the seal group in the flywheel housing with the seal positioned as shown. See Special Instruction SMHS8008. Check installation as follows:
Arrow on seal ... counterclockwise
Distance from rear face of crankshaft to sleeve Dimension A ... 1.5 ± 0.5 mm (0.6 ± .02 in.)
Distance from edge of sleeve to seal Dimension B ... 6.1 ± 0.6 mm (.24 ± .02 in.)
NOTE: Same procedure and dimensions apply to a crankshaft with a rear gear group.
