November 2007 REMAN DIRECT PURCHASE PROGRAM Introduction Even when a customer does not have an active core entitlement, it is possible to reduce the cost of their repair by offering to purchase their used component and return it to Caterpillar using the Direct Purchase Program. This program allows Reman to recover additional core from the field needed to support their remanufacturing operations. The program is a win-win in helping Reman control their costs and allowing customers to get something more than scrap value for a used component. How to Determine Part Number Eligibility All parts eligible for direct purchase can be viewed in the CMIS 2 Part Information screen. (See the Direct Purchase Program Information section below). Parts must have a price in the Direct Purchase field and a current active date to be included in the Direct Purchase Program. To qualify for the direct purchase price, a core must meet the criteria defined for that product in the Core Acceptance Criteria. All core criteria are available under the core processing link on the Reman Dealer website at https://reman.cat.com/home/.
Special Offers Occasionally, parts will be added to a hot list where there is a greater need for additional core. Sometimes the purchase price will also be increased to try and generate additional core. For example, currently, there is a temporary program available to recover certain Vane and Piston Style Hydraulic Pumps and Vane Cartridges. Information on these special needs will be posted in the Direct Purchase Program section of the Reman Dealer Site.
