RELEASE OF NEW CYLINDER HEAD CORE ACCEPTANCE
CRITERIA The Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division announces the release of new core acceptance criteria for cylinder heads, SELD0287, for NACD & LACD only. This criterion is being released as a result of several years of dealer input and Caterpillar's desire to establish a clear and simple criteria document for easy determination of Cylinder Head cores in NACD & LACD. EAME & APD will continue using the current criteria (SELD0018). The new core acceptance criteria eliminates the penalty for casting cracks due to operational damage and welding by another source other than Caterpillar. These will now receive a full core refund. Aftermarket cylinder heads interchangeable with a Caterpillar upgrade-to-new part number will also receive a full core refund. No core refund will be given to any non-operational damage; which includes mishandling damage, unsuccessful attempts to salvage, abrasive cleaning, and excessive rust or corrosion. Effective Dates and Media Availability The new core acceptance criteria (SELD0287) will be effective at the Global Core Services Center in Corinth with the January 2007 price change (NACD & LACD Only). It will also be available on the Reman website at https://reman.cat.com early December 2006 under the Core Processing and then Core Acceptance Criteria in the drop down menu. Dealers can also order the criteria (SELD0287) through normal literature order. Applicability The Cylinder Head core acceptance criteria (SELD0287) replace the core acceptance criteria (SELD0018) for NACD & LACD only. EAME & APD will continue to use the core acceptance criteria (SELD0018). Core Management Please refer to the Caterpillar? Core Management Information System (CMIS 2) Parts Information application describing all Reman part/CAF and related information.
