RELEASE OF NEW TURBOCHARGER - GROUPS AND CARTRIDGES
CORE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA Announcement The Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division announces the release of new core acceptance criteria for turbocharger groups and cartridges (SELD0288) for NACD & LACD only. This criterion is being released as a result of several years of dealer input and Caterpillar's desire to establish a clear and simple criteria document for easy determination of turbocharger and cartridge cores in NACD & LACD. EAME & APD will continue to use the current core acceptance criteria (SELD0028). The new core acceptance criteria eliminate the penalty for damaged core refund due to any damage to the turbine wheel (hot wheel). Cores that previously received damaged core refund due to any turbine wheel damage will now receive full core refund. No core refund will be given to any non-operational damage, which includes mishandling damage, units that are disassembled or missing components, or for units with torch or grinder marks. Effective Dates and Media Availability The new core acceptance criteria (SELD0288) will be effective at the Global Core Services Center in Corinth with the January 2007 price change (NACD & LACD only). The new core criteria will be available on the Reman website at https://reman.cat.com in early December 2006 under the Core Processing tab and then under Core Acceptance Criteria in the drop down menu. Dealers can also order the revised criteria (SELD0288) through normal literature order. Applicability The Turbocharger Groups and Cartridges core acceptance criteria (SELD0288) replace the core acceptance criteria (SELD0028) for NACD & LACD only. EAME & APD will continue to use the core acceptance criteria (SELD0028). The ABB Turbocharger Groups and Cartridges - 3500 Engine Series core acceptance criteria (SELD0124) will continue to be used worldwide for all ABB turbochargers and cartridge part numbers. Core Management Please refer to the Caterpillar? Core Management Information System (CMIS 2) Parts Information application describing all Reman part/CAF and related information. Also refer to other CMIS 2 inquiry applications such as Customer Profiles, Inspection Reason Codes, Inspection Line Inquiry, Add Charge Information, Entitlement Activity, Entitlement Inquiry, CCR Inquiry, CCR Entry, Shipment Processing; Process Packaging Grief; and Reporting to properly manage core returns and monitor inspection performance. This information will be available to all dealers worldwide after your CMIS 2 conversion date. In the meantime, please continue to use the current CMIS Entitlement Parts Inquiry Screen describing the list of parts in a Core Acceptability Family (CAF) and related part number detail.
