A 1270890 Standpipe needs to be installed in all 0R3789, 0R3790, 0R4120, 0R4121, 6I3890, 1025939, 1025941 and 1009344 Water Pump Assemblies used on 3406 Engines.
Parts Needed
- 1 - 1270890 Standpipe
Action Required
1. Remove the 1085959 Filter from the water pump weep hole.
NOTE: Make sure the filter is removed as this could make the standpipe ineffective.
2. Insert the new 1270890 Standpipe in the weep hole until the standpipe cap contacts the machined surface of the water pump housing.
3. Use a inch wrench to hold the cap while turning the inch hex socket counterclockwise. Tighten the cap to a torque of 3.5 ± 0.5 N·m (31 ± 4 lb. in.).
Service Claim Allowances
Submit one claim for all 1270890 Standpipes installed in water pumps in Parts Stock. Also, claim for .3 hour of labor at your sell rate for each water pump reworked.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
