SERVICE MAGAZINE; SEPTEMBER 11, 1989; PAGE 7; "New Flywheel Housing Uses No Gasket," on 227 (10W) Loggers Equipped With 2Z0907 Or 2Z0855 Increased Horsepower Modification. This article also applies to 229 (1GF) Custom 180 Excavators. Disregard the first paragraph in the ADAPTABLE TO section. The correct first paragraph follows.
Adaptable To: The new 7C6032 Flywheel Housing Group replaces the former 7W7001 Flywheel Housing Group (neither group is serviced, order individual parts as listed in chart). The change is effective with engine serial number 79V19574. The change is in effect with 227 Loggers with increased horsepower modification 10W492, and 229 Custom 180 Excavators 1GF595. The change is adaptable to all earlier 227 Loggers with increased horsepower modification, and 229 Custom 180 Excavators.

Description of Change: A new flywheel housing and sealing system is used on the above 227 Loggers. The new flywheel housing is made from a stronger material. A gasket is no longer used between the housing and the cylinder block. Instead, sealant is used that will provide better sealing between the two areas.
Adaptable To: The new 7C6032 Flywheel Housing Group replaces the former 7W7001 Flywheel Housing Group (neither group is serviced, order individual parts as listed in chart). This change is effective with engine serial number 79V19574 and product identification number 10W492. The change is adaptable to all 227 Loggers with the increased horsepower modification.
The new flywheel housing requires that the front face of the housing and the rear face of the cylinder block be free of oil, fuel, water or other contaminants. Use 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer to clean the surfaces. Apply a continuous bead of 6V6640 Gasket Maker to the face of the flywheel housing. Install the flywheel housing to the cylinder block. Tighten the mounting bolts.
