(1) Left brake accumulator
(2) Right brake accumulator

The accumulators for both the left and the right service brakes are on the front frame on the right-hand side of the machine, below the cab. Both accumulators are in a vertical position.

(7) Piston

The two accumulators for the service brakes contain piston (7), which is sealed. The piston moves back and forth inside the bore of each accumulator. The chamber is charged to the proper precharge pressure through nitrogen charging valve (3).

Reference: Refer to The Testing and Adjusting Section for charging information.

Oil from the accumulator charging valve flows through outlet (6). The oil then enters pressure oil chamber (5). The oil then pushes piston (7). This causes the dry nitrogen gas to compress. When the pressure in the brake system reaches the cut out pressure, the supply of oil is stopped by the cut out valve.

When a brake pedal is depressed, oil from chamber (5) flows outward through outlet (6). This oil flows to the service brake control valve and the oil then applies the service brakes.
