Oil Pressure Regulator - Remove and Install - Engine

Usage:

C175-20 BXR

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.

At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (2) and cover (1) for the harness assembly.

  2. Remove bolts (3) and bolt (5). Remove end section of air inlet manifold (4) and the gaskets.

  3. Remove hose assembly (6). Remove bolts (7) and disconnect tube assembly (8). Remove bolts (9) and disconnect tube assembly (10).

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device onto regulator assembly (11). The weight of regulator assembly (11) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Remove bolts (12) and regulator assembly (11).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.

    Spring force will be released when covers are removed.

    Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.


  5. Remove bolts (13) and the washers. Remove covers (14) from regulator assembly (11).

  6. Remove O-ring seals (15).

  7. Remove spring (19), retainer (18), shims (17), and stem (16) for the maximum pressure relief valve from regulator assembly (11).

  8. Remove spring (23), retainer (22), shims (21), and stem (20) for the regulator valve from regulator assembly (11).

  9. Remove bolts (24) and housing (25). Remove bolts (26) and tube (27). Remove O-ring seals (28) and (29).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install regulator assembly (11) in the reverse order of removal.
