  2. Assemble the DEF collection container from the 441-0451 Tool Gp. Three bolts and wing nuts will connect the appropriate DEF injector to the lid for the collection container.

Note: In the 441-0451 Tool Gp there are extensions for the DEF line and the electrical connection if needed.

  3. Turn the key switch to the ON position.

  4. Connect to Caterpillar® Electronic Technician ( ET).

  5. Click "Diagnostics" in the main menu, then click "Diagnostic Tests".

  6. Proceed by selecting the appropriate "Aftertreatment X DEF Dosing Injector #X Accuracy Test".

  8. After the test has completed, dispose of the collected DEF as per local regulations.

  9. Repeat the test procedure and document the quantity of DEF collected

Specification for DEF collected during the dosing test ... 170 mL to 190 mL

  10. Perform the test procedure on any other affected injectors and document the quantity of DEF collected.

Note: Be sure to apply DEF, distilled, or deionized water on the o-rings for the DEF line connectors as lubricant.

  11. Reinstall the DEF injector assembly using a new seal and a new gasket assembly.

Note: The seal and the gasket assembly are one time use only parts.

    1. Apply LOCTITE C-5A Copper Antiseize to the threads of bolts that secure the DEF injector.

    2. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 5.0 ± 0.5 N·m (44 ± 4 lb in).

    3. Retighten the bolts to a torque of 5.0 ± 0.5 N·m (44 ± 4 lb in). Turn an extra 90° ± 5°.
