New Harness Components Now being Used on Filter Bypass Warning Harness on Certain TH55-E70-3512CP, TH55 FT-E70, and TH55 FT-E90 Transmissions {1408, 1435, 3067}

Petroleum Power Train Package:
TH55-E70-3512CP (S/N: PNY1-UP)

Description of Change: New components are now being used on the Filter Bypass warning harness (269-8146) on certain TH55-E70-3512CP, TH55 FT-E70, and TH55 FT-E90 Transmissions. These new components are more robust and less susceptible to vibration increasing the service life of the original harness and preventing erroneous filter bypass warning signals.

Note: 450-1916 Transmission Harness As replaces 308-2996 Transmission Harness As, and contains updated pins and Deutsch connector. May be used with 451-4779 Bypass Switch if harness replacement is required. Harness As. replacement is not required for this replacement.

Rework Instructions


NOTICE

Hydraulic Systems may be pressurized, ensure that pressure has been released before performing the rework procedure.


Note: Procedure is applicable to the Torque Converter Filter and Transmission Filter.

  1. Disconnect 164-7577 Bypass Switch Gp from 308-2996 Transmission Harness As.

  1. Remove 164-7577 Bypass Switch Gp from 333-9310 Oil Filter Base Gp .

    Note: The 164-7577 Bypass Switch Gp is lightly preloaded by bypass spool and spring, hold switch securely during removal.

  1. Install 451-4779 Bypass Switch into 333-9310 Oil Filter Base Gp and torque to 80 ± 10 N·m (59 ± 7 lb ft).

  1. Remove 155-2261 Plug Lock Wedge, 155-2269 Connector Plug As , and 8T-8730 Connector Sockets from Bypass Switch Wires on 308-2996 Transmission Harness As .

  1. Install 126-1767 Connector Pins and 102-8802 Receptacle Kit to Transmission and Torque Converter Bypass Switch Wires on 308-2996 Transmission Harness As .

    ReferenceRefer to Tool Operating Manual, SEHS9615, "Servicing deutsch connector HD & DT Style Connectors".

  1. Connect 451-4779 Bypass Switch to Transmission and Torque Converter Bypass Switch Connectors on 308-2996 Transmission Harness As .

  1. Secure harness assembly to existing clipping points.
