电子控制模块 (ECM) (1) 控制大多数发动机功能。 模块是密封的装置，安装在发动机接线盒内。 ECM 监视传感器的各种输入以便控制发动机。 ECM 支持下列主要功能：
- 起动/停机控制
- 喷油正时控制
- 发动机调速
- 数据链路通信
- 电气系统的诊断
- 发动机运转的监测和保护
集成传感器模块 (ISM) (2) 支持以下功能：
- 监视气缸排气温度传感器
- 爆震传感器的监测
模块中没有可移除的个性化模块。 通过 Caterpillar 电子技师 (ET) 将闪存文件编程设定到模块中，以便更改软件。
