(1) All clamps and bolts must be aligned in this position.
(2) Orient the gaps between the clamps and the slots in the tie rod, as shown. The gaps will ensure clearance at final assembly. Apply alternate torque to ensure an equal gap between the two clamps on both sides.
Note: Apply Loctite Graphite-50 to the threads and the taper of the ball studs. Apply Loctite Graphite-50 to the washer faces of nuts.

(5) Use the following procedure to install the pin:
- Insert the pin and assemble the bottom plate (10) with the O-ring seal (7). Apply Loctite 271 to the threads and then torque the bolts (8).
- Assemble the top plate (6) with the O-ring seal (7). Apply Loctite 271 to the threads and then torque the bolts (8).
Note: Refer to the Steering System Testing and Adjusting, "Center Arm (Steering) - Adjust" to determine the number of shims to use.
