- If necessary, follow Step 1.a through Step 1.g in order to Install mounting bracket (20) to the engine block.
- Ensure that mounting bracket (20) is clean and free from wear or damage. If necessary, replace the mounting bracket.
- Position mounting bracket (20) onto the engine block.
Note: The bracket should be supported until the bolts have been Installed.
- Install bolt (21), bolts (22), and bolt (23).
- Install bolts (24), and bolt (25).
Note: Ensure that all bolts of different lengths are installed in the correct positions. Ensure that all brackets for tube assemblies are installed in the correct positions and in correct orientation.
- Tighten bolt (21) and bolts (22) to a torque of
22 N·m (16 lb ft) . - Tighten bolt (23), bolts (24) and bolt (25) to a torque of
44 N·m (33 lb ft) . - Install the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heat Exchanger - Install".
Show/hide tableIllustration 2 g01618830 - Ensure that the cross over pipe (14) and elbow connections (17) are clean and free from restriction. Ensure that the cross over pipe and elbow connections is free from wear or damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.
- Install a new O ring seal (19) (not shown) to the flange of elbow connection (17).
- Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (18). Position the elbow connection onto the inlet manifold. Loosely install bolts (18) to elbow connection (17).
- Apply Tooling (B) to a new O ring seal (15) and to a new O ring seal (16).
- Install O ring seal (16) to elbow connection (17). Install O ring seal (15) to the cross over pipe (16).

Illustration 3 g01783034 Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g01532115 - Ensure that the aftercooler is clean and free from restriction. Ensure that the aftercooler is free from wear or damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to aftercooler (10). The weight of aftercooler (10) is approximately
17 kg (35 lb) . - Position aftercooler (10) onto the cross over pipe (14) and elbow connections (17). Ensure that O ring seals are correctly seated into the aftercooler and the elbow connections.
- Install bolts (9), bolts and washer (11) to aftercooler (10).
Note: The aftercooler should be supported until the bolts have been Installed.
- Tighten bolts (9), bolts and washer (11) to a torque of
44 N·m (33 lb ft) . - Tighten bolts (18) for elbow connection (17) to a torque of
22 N·m (16 lb ft) . - Connect hose (13) to aftercooler (10) and the heat exchanger. Tighten hose clamps (12) securely.
- Connect hose (7) to aftercooler (10). Tighten hose clamps (8) securely.
- For a sea water cooled engine, install tube assembly (6) to the water temperature regulator and the heat exchanger. Tighten the hose clamps securely.
- Fill the cooling system to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct filling procedure.

Illustration 5 g01617993 - If necessary, install grommets (5) to cover (1). Install washers (3) to bolts (2), and spacers (4). Install the cover and install bolts. Tighten bolts to a torque of
22 N·m (16 lb ft) . - Connect breather hose from the valve mechanism cover and tighten hose clamp securely.
