Cat HYDO Advanced 10 Oil Change Interval
The standard Cat HYDO Advanced 10 oil change interval is every 4000 service hours.
The 4000 service hour maintenance interval for hydraulic oil (change) is strongly recommended with S·O·S monitoring of the hydraulic oil after 3000 service hours. The interval for S·O·S monitoring is every 500 hours. An oil change is strongly recommended when the oil deterioration or contamination is detected. The maintenance interval for the hydraulic oil filter is not changed.
Refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities - Fluids Recommendations"" for additional information.
Procedure to Change the Hydraulic Oil
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin. |
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Operate the machine to warm the hydraulic oil.

- Once the fluid has drained into a suitable container, close the drain plug.
Note: Make no attempt to start the engine without hydraulic oil. Serious damage to the hydraulic components can result.
- Change the hydraulic oil filters. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Filter - Replace" for the correct procedure.
- Fill the hydraulic system through the fast fill service center. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fast Fill Service Center" for additional information.
For recommended fluids and capacities, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities - Fluids Recommendations" and "Capacities (Refill)".
Note: Do not overfill the hydraulic tank.
- Start the engine. Operate the engine at idling speed for 5 minutes.
- Cycle the machine controls slowly so that all hydraulic systems are filled with oil. Stop the engine.
- Check the hydraulic oil level.
Reference: For the correct procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".
- Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks.
If your machine is equipped with a fast fill service center, you may be able to drain/add fluid through the fast fill port.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fast Fill Service Center" for additional information.
Note: The fast fill service center may not completely drain the system. Drain the remaining fluid as instructed in the procedure.
