Installation Procedure of the Window Guard Group for Certain 950H, 962H, 966H and 972H Medium Wheel Loaders{7165, 7182, 7310}

Introduction

The information in this procedure lists the steps that are required in order to install the window guard kit.

The window guard group weighs in excess of 136 kg (300 lb) and will require two technicians and the use of a suitable lifting devise.

Do not perform any procedure and do not order parts that are outlined in this publication until you understand the information contained in this document.

Machine Preparation

  1. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Move away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Lower the implements to the ground. turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.

  1. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in sight of the operator.

  1. Engage the parking brake. Put blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

  1. Install the steering frame lock in the LOCKED position so the machine cannot articulate.

  1. Remove four screws (A) from the cab. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2

  1. Install the frame for the window guard. Refer to Illustrations 3 and 4

    Note: Only hand tighten the bolts until the frame and the front guard have been fully assembled.

    1. Install upper tube assembly (14) with four hard washers (20) and four bolts (23) .

    1. Install lower tube assembly (15) with two plates (12) using four hard washers (20) and four bolts (23) .

    1. Install left-hand tube (13) with two hard washers (20) and two bolts (23) .

    1. Install right-hand tube (11) with two hard washers (20) and two bolts (23) .

  1. Using a suitable lifting device, install front grill assembly (8) with six washers (24) and six bolts (21) .

    Note: Only hand tighten the bolts until the frame and the front guard have been fully assembled.

  1. Starting with upper tube assembly (14) and lower tube assembly (15), tighten all bolts that were installed in Steps 2 and 3.

  1. Assemble latch assembly (5) and rod assembly (16) to the guard frame.

    1. Install clip (7) with rivet (6) .

    1. Insert grommet (18) into the bracket of lower tube assembly (15) .

    1. Insert rod assembly (16) into grommet (18) .

    1. Secure rod assembly (16) with hard washer (22) and cotter pin (5) .

    1. Install latch (1a) with two rivets (3) .

  1. Repeat Step 5 for the left-hand side of the guard frame.

  1. Assemble hardware onto right grill assembly (9) .

    1. Insert grommet (18) into the bracket of right grill assembly (9) .

    1. Assemble nut (19) with conical bumper (2) and install onto right grill assembly (9) .

    1. Install bracket (1b) onto right grill assembly (9) with two rivets (4) .

  1. Repeat Step 7 for left-hand grill assembly (10) .

  1. Attach right grill assembly (9) onto front grill assembly (8) with two clevis pins (17) and two cotter pins (5) .

  1. Repeat Step 9 for left grill assembly (10) .
