Access Hole for A-Pin Bore Service on 980K Wheel Loaders{0670, 0679, 6107, 7054}

Introduction

The following procedure is to add an access hole to aid in the service of the A pin on 980K Wheel Loaders. This inner access hole should be installed on opposing locations of the front loader frame.

Do not perform any procedure in this publication or order any parts until you understand the information that is contained in this publication.

(A) Center distance between hole is 105 ± 1.8 mm (4.1 ± 0.8 inch)

(B) Center distance between hole is 160.8 mm (6.33 inch)

(C) Distance to center of hole is 95 mm (3.75 inch)

(D) Center distance between holes is 98 ± 2 mm (3.9 ± 0.08 inch).

(E) Center distance between holes is 98 ± 2 mm (3.9 ± 0.08 inch).

(F) Distance to centered hole is 98 ± 2 mm (3.9 ± 0.08 inch).

(G) Distance to centered hole is 95 mm (3.75 inch)

  1. Torch/cut the hole per the dimensions in Illustration 3. Make sure that the hole size is adequate for line-bore tool.

  1. For a removable end cap, drill four 5.2 mm (0.2 inch) holes and tap for M6 bolts. See Illustration 3 for hole placement.

  1. Repeat steps to add another hole on the opposite side.

Note: Grind cutout to smooth out rough edges.

(H) Length of 122 mm (4.8 inch).

(J) Length of 122 mm (4.8 inch).

(K) Diameter of holes 6.6 mm (0.26 inch).

(L) Length of 12 mm (0.47 inch).

(M) Length of 12 mm (0.47 inch).

An end cap should to be fabricated to seal the access hole from debris or/and moisture. The end cap plate should be fabricated out of structural steel (290 MPa Min Yield) specification. The steel should be 5 mm (0.2 inch) thick. This end cap plate can be welded on the inner plate with skip welds or you can add four holes tapped for M6 bolts. To add the holes to the end cap plate, use the dimensions in Illustration 4.
