The FMI 13 is activated when the ECM has determined that the Brake Pressure Modulation Solenoid needs calibration.
Note: Before performing this procedure, verify that no other active CID 2596 diagnostic codes exist for the solenoid. If any other diagnostic codes are active for the solenoid, correct the problem before performing this procedure.
Test Step 1. CALIBRATION
- Access the calibration procedure using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) service tool. Follow the on screen instructions in order to perform the calibration procedure for the solenoid. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, UENR0057, "Brake - Calibrate"
Expected Result:
The calibration procedure was performed successfully.
Results:
- YES - The calibration procedure was performed successfully.
Repair: Resume normal machine operation.
STOP
- NO - The calibration was not successful.
Repair: Repeat the calibration procedure for the solenoid. If the second calibration procedure is not successful, replace the solenoid. After the solenoid is replaced, perform the calibration procedure again. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, UENR0057, "Brake - Calibrate" If the problem is still present after replacement and calibration of the new solenoid, the ECM could be causing the problem.Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for a possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time. If a determination is made that the ECM must be replaced, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".
