Customizing Text Items

Note: The contents of the "Setup Menu" are configurable at the job site. The number of items that are in the "Setup Menu" may vary depending on the "Operator Configuration" settings of your system and the machine settings. Refer to your supervisor if a specific option is not available.

You can customize the display in order to show up to five text items on the "Plan View", "Cross Section View", "Text Views", and "Profile View". Alternatively, you can also choose not to show any text at all.

You can select up to 10 items on the text views. If you choose to select only one or two items on a view screen, then the text uses a larger font than if three to five text items are selected. A "Text View" screen is not shown if the screen has no items selected.

If you select one to three items of information on the "Plan View", "Cross Section View", and "Profile View" the items appear along the bottom of the view. If you select four or five items, then all of the items appear down the right side of the view.

Perform the following steps in order to set up the text Items.

The items are described in table 1.

The following is a list of information for the "Text Items" dialog.

  • The opening screen shows the list of items that are selected to appear on the "Plan View".

  • Press the "Cross-section" soft key in order to show the list of items that are selected to appear on the "Cross-section View".

  • Press the "Profile view" soft key in order to show the list of items that are selected to appear on the profile view.

  • Press the "Text View 1" soft key in order to show the list of items that are selected to appear on "Text View 1".

  • Press the "Text View 2" soft key in order to show the list of items that are selected to appear on"Text View 2".

  • Use softkey 1 (enable/disable) to enable or disable the available items for each view.

Note: Items appear in the order that you select the items. You can remove the items and then add the items in a different order to change the item position on the screen.

  1. Do one of the following.

    • Press the "OK" key in order to save the settings and return to the "Setup Menu - Configuration" dialog.

    • Press the escape key and then press the "OK" key in order to return to the "Setup Menu - Configuration" dialog without saving the changes.

  2. Press the escape key in order to exit the "Setup Menu - Configuration" dialog. The changes take effect immediately.

Table 1
Text View Options
Items  Details
"Alignment (3D)"  Displays description of line that is used for horizontal guidance
"Avoid. Dist. (3D)"  The "Avoid. Dist" is the shortest distance between any one point and the closest avoidance zone.
"Blade Slope"  Blade slope of the blade orthogonal to the direction of travel. Blade slope is not the measured tilt of the blade.
"Cut Adjust (3D)"  When cut adjustment is "Off", the text field indicates "N/A". When cut adjustment is "On" and adjustment is applied, the text field shows the larger of the applied cut adjustments for the tips.
"Cut/Fill Left"  Shows either "Cut Left" or "Fill Left", as appropriate, for the left blade tip. If a vertical offset is specified, the cut or the fill is to the vertically offset position.
"Cut/Fill Right"  Shows either "Cut Right" or "Fill Right", as appropriate, for the right blade tip. If a vertical offset is specified, the cut or the fill is to the vertically offset position.
"Cut/Fill Center"  Shows either "Cut Center" or "Fill Center", as appropriate, for the center of the blade. If a vertical offset is specified, the cut or the fill is to the vertically offset position.
"Design Elevation (3D)"  Design elevation at the blade tip with focus.
"Design Mainfall (3D)"  Mainfall of the design parallel to the direction of travel
Design Name (3D)  Indicates the name of the design that is loaded on the display.
"Design XSlope (3D)"  Cross slope of the design orthogonal to the direction of travel
"Easting (3D)"  Easting at the blade tip with focus.
"Easting - Tire (3D)"  Easting of the selected tire.
"Elevation (3D)"  Elevation at the blade tip with focus.
"Elevation - Tire (3D)"  Elevation of the selected tire.
"GPS Acc. Mode (3D)"  The selected GPS accuracy mode is displayed. GPS accuracy modes are fine, medium, and coarse.
"H. GPS Err. (3D)"   A measure of the horizontal GPS accuracy. The text is red if the value exceeds the current GPS error limit. The text is blue if the value is close to the limit. Otherwise the text is black.
"Heading (3D)"  Direction the machine is moving. Shown in degrees clockwise from the north.
"MA Offset (3D)"  Offset from the blade tip with focus to the master alignment. Also see the item "Offline" in this table.
"Mainfall"  Mainfall of the machine in the direction of travel.
"Northing (3D)"  Northing at the blade tip with focus.
"Northing - Tire (3D)"  Northing of the selected tire.
"Offline (3D)"  Offline distance from the blade tip with focus to the selected alignment. If a horizontal offset is specified, the offline distance is to the horizontally offset position. Also see the item "MA Offset" in this table.
Offline L (3D)  This value is the distance to the alignment closest to the left edge of the drum, provided the alignment is to the left of the middle of the drum. The offline calculation differs according to file type. For standard ".SVD" and ".SVL" files, the calculated offline distance is parallel with the blade alignment. For ".DC" road design files, the calculated offline distance is perpendicular to the master alignment of the road.
Offline R (3D)  This value is the distance to the alignment closest to the right edge of the drum, provided the alignment is to the right of the middle of the drum. The offline calculation differs according to file type. For standard ".SVD" and ".SVL" files, the calculated offline distance is parallel with the blade alignment. For ".DC" road design files, the calculated offline distance is perpendicular to the master alignment of the road.
Offline LM  This value is the off-line distance from the left edge of the drum to the outermost left alignment of the road, provided the alignment is to the left of the middle of the drum. The offline calculation differs according to file type. For standard ".SVD" and ".SVL" files, the calculated offline distance is parallel with the blade alignment. For ".DC" road design files, the calculated offline distance is perpendicular to the master alignment of the road.
Offline RM  This value is the off-line distance from the right edge of the drum to the outermost right alignment of the road, provided the alignment is to the right of the middle of the drum. The offline calculation differs according to file type. For standard ".SVD" and ".SVL" files, the calculated offline distance is parallel with the blade alignment. For ".DC" road design files, the calculated offline distance is perpendicular to the master alignment of the road.
"Orientation (3D)"  Direction the blade is pointing. Shown in degrees clockwise from north.
"Pass Count (3D)"  Shades the plan view to show the number of passes a machine has made over an area of ground.
"PDOP (3D)"  Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) at the blade tip with focus.
"Position Status (3D)"  Position Status  No Position
Low Accuracy
High Accuracy
"Ref. Surface (3D)"  Describes the reference surface that is being used
"Satellites (3D)"  Number of satellites used by the GPS receiver to calculate a position
"Speed (3D)"  Machine speed. If the speed is less than 0.5 km/h (0.31 mph), the text field indicates 0.
"Station (3D)"  Station at the blade tip with focus.
Surface Lift  Vertical offset between the master alignment and the working surface when a vertical lift is defined. The value is positive if the vertical lift is above the master alignment. The value is negative if the vertical lift is below the master alignment. The value is "N/A" when no vertical lift is defined.
"V. GPS Err. (3D)"  A measure of the vertical GPS accuracy. The text is red if the value exceeds the current GPS error limit. The text is blue if the value is close to the limit. Otherwise the text is black
Vertical Offset  Shows the amount of vertical offset applied to the working surface, using the vertical offset soft key. The vertical offset will be relative to the layered lift, perpendicular lift, or vertical lift if any of these are defined. The value is positive if the vertical lift is above the master alignment, negative if the vertical lift is below the master alignment and 0.000 when no vertical lift is defined.
