ATS Not Tracking
Probable Causes
- There is no power to the ATS
- The ATS is not connected
- The electric mast is not connected
- The firmware for the ATS is incorrect
- The 2400 Mhz radio is not connected or configured
- Out of range
- The ATS does not have line of sight to the target on the machine
- Is the work area within the search window specified when the ATS was started
Problem Isolation
- Use the "Machine Radio Configuration" dialog in order to verify that the machine radio is configured to operate on the same network number as the Total Station.
- Verify that there is power to the data radio.
- Verify that the data radio is synchronized.
- Use the information from the "ATS" dialog in order to check the following:
- The ATS is tracking.
- The ATS has adequate power.
- Verify that the ATS instrument is free from vibrations caused by passing machinery or the wind.
- Observe the site and the work area and check the following:
- The ATS target is between 15 m (49 ft) and 300 m (985) from the ATS instrument.
- Ensure that the ATS instrument has a continuous line of sight to the ATS target. Check for occasional passing vehicles or dust clouds which could block the line of sight. Check that the line of sight is maintained for all machine orientations across the whole work area.
- Verify that the work area is within the search window specified when the ATS was started.
- Ensure that the lens of the ATS instrument is clean.
ATS Start-Up Problems
Problem     | Action     |
---|---|
No "Start" soft key in "ATS" dialog.     | The machine data radio has not synchronized with the ATS instrument data radio. Check that the ATS instrument data radio is turned on. Check the battery of the instrument. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8290, "Diagnostics - View".     |
ATS fails to start     | Ask your site manager to check that the radio channel and network that are set up in the control box are compatible with the instrument radio. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8290, "Diagnostics - View".     |
ATS Warning Messages
Message     | Problem     | Solution     |
"Bench ATS"     | The target needs to be benched because the ATS height was not entered when the instrument was set up.     | Bench the Machine Target. Otherwise, ask your site manager to set up the instrument with an elevation.     |
"Check ATS Battery"     | The system detected that the ATS instrument battery is low.     | Replace the instrument battery with a fully charged one.     |

"Level ATS"     | The tilt compensator on the ATS instrument is out of range.     | Level the instrument mount.     |
"No ATS Data"     | The ATS is not currently operating as part of the system.     | Use the procedure in Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8290, "Diagnostics - View". Additionally, check that the ATS system is running and tracking the machine. Check that the Target ID is set correctly.     |
"Search For Machine Target"     | The ATS instrument lost lock on the target, or was unable to acquire the target after searching.     | Check that there is a clear line of sight between the instrument and the target, that the target is within range of the instrument, and that the machine is within the search window and then search for the machine target.     |
"Start ATS"     | The ATS system is not providing guidance data.     | Start the ATS system.     |
