This diagnostic code is recorded when a valid harness code is not received from the "VIDS/VIMS" ECM.
The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
- The data link wire between the Implement ECM and the "VIDS/VIMS main" module has failed.
- The "VIDS/VIMS main" module has failed.
Test Step 1. CHECK THE ATTACHMENT CODE.
- Ensure that the correct attachment code is entered into the service program.
- On the "VIDS/VIMS" enter "ATTACH" on the keypad.
- On the "VIDS/VIMS" enter "OK" on the keypad..
- The "VIDS/VIMS" will prompt for the "ATTACH" codes.
- Enter the attachment code and press "OK" on the keypad.
Note: The correct attachment must be entered twice on the keypad in order to be accepted. Shortly after the attachment code has been entered, the implement ECM may log a CID 0650 FMI 02 diagnostic code. The new code indicates that the attachment code has changed.

- Cycle the key start switch from the OFF position to the ON position.
Expected Result:
The new code corrects the problem. The diagnostic code no longer exists.
Results:
- Yes - The new code corrects the problem. The diagnostic code no longer exists.
STOP
- NO - The diagnostic code is still present. Proceed to Test Step 2.
Test Step 2. CHECK THE SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY.
- Ensure the correct software is installed. Refer to 992G Wheel Loader Parts Manual, SEBP2415.
Expected Result:
The software is compatible.
Results:
- YES - The software is compatible. Proceed to Test Step 5.
- NO - The software is NOT compatible.
Repair: Install the correct software. If any module has been replaced, ensure that the correct part number was used.
STOP
Test Step 3. INSPECT THE HARNESS CONNECTIONS.
- Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
- Inspect all harness connections that are related to the CAT data link. Make sure that the connectors are clean and tight.
- Check the connectors for proper mating.
- Check the wires at the connector.
- Check each wire for nicks or signs of abrasion in the insulation.
- Check for moisture at the connector.
- Check the connectors for dirty contacts or corroded contacts.
- Check each pin and each socket of the machine harness connectors.
Expected Result:
The machine harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion.
Results:
- OK - The machine harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion. Proceed to test step 4.
- NOT OK - The machine harness connectors are in need of repair.
Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.
STOP
Test Step 4. CHECK FOR A OPEN HARNESS.
- The disconnect switch remains in the OFF position.
- All related electronic control modules remain disconnected from the machine harness.
- At the Implement ECM measure the resistance from connector "J1", contact "20" (wire 892-BR(Brown)) to the corresponding contacts:

Expected Result:
The resistance measures less than 5 ohms.
Results:
- OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The CAT data link circuit in the machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 5.
- NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 Ohms. The machine harness has failed.
Repair: The CAT data link circuit is open in the machine harness. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.
STOP
Test Step 5. RECHECK FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE.
- Reconnect J1 to the Implement ECM.
- Reconnect the harness connector to the other ECM modules.
- Ensure that the diagnostic code is inactive.
Expected Result:
The diagnostic code is no longer active.
Results:
- YES - The diagnostic code is no longer active.
Repair: The diagnostic code no longer exists. The diagnostic code was caused by a loose connection.
STOP
- NO - The diagnostic code remains active.
Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure. Perform this test procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".
