Start By:

  1. Remove the track drive motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Drive Motor - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (1). Disconnect hose assembly (2). Remove two bolts (3).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

  2. Install Tooling (A) into the bolt holes. Install Tooling (B) in order to release the piston. Remove remaining six bolts (3).

  3. Use two people to remove housing (4). The weight of housing (4) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).

  4. Remove disks (5). Remove plates (6).

  5. Remove shaft (7). Remove O-ring seals (8). Remove ring (9).
