This article summarizes the improvements that are included in the VIMS 9.6 software for the large wheel loader. The part number for the 9.6 class of onboard source software is 199-6528 Monitor Software Gp. Upgrading to the 9.6 Source Code also requires an update to the VIMS configuration. Please refer to the tables below as each machine may have different options.

Note: Prior to performing any machine software update, be sure to reference and complete the worksheet that is located in Testing and Adjusting, SENR6059, "VIMS 9.0X or Later Class of Onboard Software Update Worksheet".

Software Features

800-09 Fault Code at Power Up Fix

The diagnostic code MID 036 CID 0800 FMI 09 (VIMS Main Module-Abnormal Update) may be logged in the VIMS event list if all of the following conditions are true and the conditions occur in this order:

1. The operator moves the key start switch from the OFF position to the START position. The operator then waits for the completion of the VIMS self test.

2. The voltage drops when the operator cranks the engine.

In order to correct this issue, follow the steps below.

1. For 7HR machines and 1JW machines, flash the new engine software that is identified in Table 2.

2. For ADZ machines and AMP machines, flash 243-0013 Engine Ratings Electronic Software .

Remap Coolant and Torque Converter Temperature Gauges

Operators had been reporting that these two gauges run close to the red zone during normal operation.

In order to correct this issue, follow the steps below.

1. Flash the new VIMS/VIDS source and configuration files in order to remap the gauges so that the gauges will correctly display during normal operation. Refer to Tables 3 through 8.

   Note: Flashing the new source and configuration files will result in the addition of the Master Event ID's/Parameters that are listed below in Table 1. Machines without the filtration updates will create the "PLUGGED" event status. The machines will need to disable the events by using the "ESET" function.

2. For S/N:7HR
   machines only (without case drain filtration update), follow the procedure below in order to disable the filtration events.

   The following information describes 3738 (ESET) service program code.

   The "Event-Configure" command allows the service technician to modify a configuration in order to turn off the functions that are listed here:

   • Event Storage

   • Event Display

   • Service Indicator Lamp

   • Broadcast (Telemetry Systems)

   Note: Refer to Systems Operations, SENR6059, "Event-Configure" in order to configure the "ESET" parameters.

Adding Fuel Totals to the Payload Report (7HR)

Current 7HR machines do not display fuel totals in the payload report.

In order to correct this issue, follow the steps below.

1. Flash new VIMS Source and Configuration Software in order to correct this problem. Reference Tables 7 and 8 for the software.

Add Case Drain Filtration Monitoring (7HR)

There is no case drain filtration for the 7HR machines without an update.

In order to correct this issue, follow the steps below.

1. Reference Special Instruction, REHS2473, "Installation Instructions for the Case Drain Filtration Monitoring Package" for instructions on the installation of the filtration package.

2. Flash new VIMS Source and Configuration Software. Reference Tables 7 and 8 for the software.

NTN Sensor Update

Reference Special Instruction, REHS2675, "Installation of New Position Sensors" for instructions on completing the NTN sensor update. The VIMS software and codes are listed in the tables below.

Note: Attachment codes 10 through 82 (gray section) are the codes for machines without the NTN sensor update. Codes 90 through 97 (white section) are for the machines with the NTN sensor update.

Note: Attach Code must be chosen by machine configuration and specific machine set-up. To ensure the correct Attach Code is entered, reference Testing and Adjusting, SENR6059, "Attachment Code - Configure".
