Introduction

The 278-7084 Sensor Harness Assembly , and 278-7083 Bracket replace the 178-3051 Sensor Harness Assembly on machines with the standard lift arrangement. The 278-7085 Sensor Harness Assembly and the 278-7083 Bracket replace the 208-3911 Sensor Harness Assembly on machines with the high lift arrangement. When the 278-7084 Sensor Harness Assembly or the 278-7085 Sensor Harness Assembly are installed, be sure to clamp the 278-7084 Sensor Harness Assembly or the 278-7085 Sensor Harness Assembly at the two locations on the harness that are marked by green tape. Also, make sure that the protective hose is not twisted when the clamps are tightened.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove the 4V-1939 Clamps from the weld mount on the frame and the weld mount on the lifting arm.

   Note: Do not discard the 4V-1939 Clamps , the 5V-6439 Plate , the 8C-8451 Bolts , or the 9X-8256 Washers . These clamps will be reinstalled later.

2. Remove 178-3051 Sensor Harness Assembly or the 208-3911 Sensor Harness Assembly .

3. Attach 278-7083 Bracket (1) to the weld mount on the lift arm. Use the 7X-2619 Bolt and 9X-8256 Washer in the upper hole of the weld mount. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 4.

4. Install 278-7084 Sensor Harness Assembly or the 278-7085 Sensor Harness Assembly .
   • The end of the harness with the 3-pin connector attaches to the 169-0417 Position Sensor Group .

   • Connect the remaining end of the harness to the machine harness.

5. Reinstall the 4V-1939 Clamp and the 5V-6439 Plate that were removed from the frame in Step 1. Make sure that the clamp is positioned over the green tape on the harness. Refer to Illustrations 2 and 3.

6. Reinstall the 4V-1939 Clamp and the 5V-6439 that were removed from the lifting arm in Step 1. Make sure that the clamp is positioned over the green tape on the harness. Refer to illustrations 1 and 4.

7. Perform a test in order to ensure that the harness routing is not pinched, and that the harness routing is not rubbing on a sharp edge. Perform a test in order to ensure that the harness routing is not hanging up, or that the protective hose is not twisted.
