Event Code List

Usage:

525C 525
Event Identifier Codes (EID) alert the operator that an abnormal machine operating condition such as a high system voltage or inappropriate parking brake engagement has occurred.

When the ECM activates an event code, the operator will be alerted by the Monitor. Some events will be logged by the ECM and can be viewed with the Monitor or the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) service tool.

Event codes are activated in one of four warning levels according to the severity of the condition. The warning levels and the operator action that is required are shown in the following table.

Table 1
WARNING OPERATION
Warning Category  Warning Indications (1)  Required Operator Action  Possible Result (2)
Alert Indicator Flashes (3) Action Lamp Flashes  Action Alarm Sounds
No immediate action required. The system needs attention soon.  No harmful or damaging effects.
Change machine operation or perform maintenance to the system.  Severe damage to components.
2-S  X (4)  Immediately change the machine operation.  Severe damage to machine components.
X (5)  Immediately perform a safe engine shutdown.  Operator injury or severe damage to components.
(1) The warning indications which are active, are marked with an "X".
(2) This is the possible result if no operator action is taken.
(3) At a 10 Hz rate.
(4) The alarm is on continuously.
(5) Pulsating alarm.

When an EID is activated by the ECM, the following information should be recorded.

  1. Obtain the following information from the operator:

    • The event and the time of the event

    • Determine the engine's operating conditions at the time of the event. Conditions such as engine rpm and load may be important.

    • Determine if there are any systems that were installed by the dealer or by the customer that could cause the event.

  2. Verify that the event is not due to normal machine operation. Verify that the event is not due to error of the operator.

  3. Check all fluid levels and all oil levels.

  4. Troubleshoot and repair any active diagnostic codes.

The following table lists the event codes that apply to the machine control system. The cause of the active EID is listed. Use the Cat ET service tool in order to determine the event codes that are active or logged.

Table 2
Event Codes
EID  Warning Level  Description  Cause
0043  Low System Voltage Warning  The battery is not charging. Check for diagnostic codes relating to system voltage or alternator output. To troubleshoot, check associated diagnostic codes that may occur with this event code.
0050  High System Voltage Warning  The system voltage is higher than normal. Check for diagnostic codes relating to system voltage or alternator output.
0179  Alternator Not Charging  Check tension on drive belt of alternator. Check electrical connections of alternator circuit.
0119  Low Fuel Level  Active when fuel level is less than 10%
0155  High Torque Converter Oil Temperature  Active when TC oil temperature is greater than 130 °C (266.0 °F) - logged event
0192  Steering System Malfunction  On machines with secondary steer installed, active when primary steer pressure is low & secondary steer relay is activated - Test switch will not activate - logged event
0284  Low Brake Accumulator Pressure  Active input at J2-47 illuminates indicator - After 30 seconds, event will be logged
0329  Transmission Filter Plugged  Active input at J2-46 illuminates indicator - After 30 seconds, event will be logged
0490  Park Brake Applied While Shift Lever Not In Neutral  Active when the park brake is engaged and the shift lever is not in neutral - logged event
0560  Secondary Steering Pump Pressure Not Responding To Comand  On machines with secondary steer installed, active when secondary steer relay has been active for 2 seconds and secondary steer pressure switch is not indicating pressure - logged event
0627  Park Brake Applied With Machine In Motion  Active when the park brake is applied and the machine is driven - logged event
0861  Clock Manual Alignment Required  System clock is not synchronized with other machine controls - Manual clock alignment request will log event
0875  Low System Voltage  Active when system voltage is less than 23.0 VDC - logged event
0876  High System Voltage  Active when system voltage is more than 29.0 VDC - logged event
0878  High Hydraulic Oil Temperature  Active when hydraulic oil temperature is greater than 96 °C (204.8 °F) - logged event
0889  Winch Function Disabled Due to System Fault (When Winch is Installed)  Active when brake off return relay opens due to solenoid fault or if winch on/off return relay opens due to solenoid fault - logged event
2134  Low Primary Steering Pressure  On machines with secondary steer installed, active when primary steer pressure is low & secondary steer relay is activated - Test switch will not activate - logged event
2157  Starter Disabled Due to Transmission Not In Neutral  Active when key switch is move to START position and the transmission is not in NEUTRAL - logged event
2174  Park Brake Switch OFF at Inappropriate Time  Park brake pressure switch indicates brake ON & Park brake switch is OFF - logged event
