Window Wiper and Wiper Motor (Front) - Remove and Install

Usage:

924G 3DZ

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Wheel - Remove and Install".

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Cut cable straps (1) and disconnect harness assemblies (2) .

  1. Cut cable straps (3) .

  1. Cut cable strap (4) and reposition the harness assembly.

  1. Remove bolt (5) .

  1. Remove bolt (6) from the right side of the duct assembly.

  1. Loosen screws (10). Disconnect Harness assemblies (9) .

  1. Cut cable strap (7) and disconnect harness assembly (8) .

  1. Remove bolt (11) .

  1. Remove bolt (12) from the left side of the duct assembly.

  1. Remove screws (13) and cover (14) .

  1. Remove screws (15) .

  1. Remove bolts (16) from the steering column assembly.

  1. Lower steering column assembly (17) .

  1. Disconnect Harness assembly (18) .

  1. Move instrument panel console (19) aside.

  1. Remove duct assembly (20) .

    Note: Mark the location of the wiper arm assembly on the wiper shafts for installation purposes.

  1. Disconnect hose (22) .

  1. Loosen bolts (23) and remove wiper arm assembly (21) .

  1. Unscrew plastic caps (25) .

  1. Remove screw (24) .

    Note: Support the wiper motor assembly inside the cab.

  1. Remove nut (28) and the washers.

  1. Remove plate (22) and gasket (27) .

  1. Remove wiper motor assembly (29) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install wiper motor assembly (29) into the cab.

    Note: Support the wiper motor assembly inside the cab.

  1. Install gasket (27) and plate (26) .

  1. Install nut (28). Tighten nut (28) to a torque of 19 ± 1 N·m (14 ± 0.7 lb ft).

  1. Install screw (24) .

  1. Install plastic caps (25) .

    NOTICE

    Push the wiper arm assembly straight onto the tapered shaft. If the wiper arm assembly is not installed straight when the shaft turns, the splines will be improperly formed and damage will occur.



    NOTICE

    Do not operate the wiper motor before the wiper arm assembly is installed.

    A new wiper motor is preset in the parked position. If the wiper motor is operated before installation of the wiper arm assembly, misalignment will occur. This can cause damage to the wiper motor, the wiper arm assembly, and/or the window.

    Do not manually rotate the wiper arm assembly on the shaft.


  1. Use the marks in order to align wiper arm assembly (21) onto the motor shafts.

  1. If the wiper motor is new, position wiper arm assembly (21) onto the motor shafts within Dimension (A), as shown. Dimension (A) equals 85 ± 25 mm (3.4 ± 1.0 inch) from the glass edge to the wiper arm assembly.

  1. Tighten set screws (23) to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (15 ± 2 lb ft).

    Note: Do not use petroleum lubricants on the hose ends.

  1. Connect hose (22) to the connector. Make sure that hose (22) is installed to Dimension (B), as shown. Dimension (B) equals 1.0 ± 1.0 mm (0.04 ± 0.04 inch).

  1. Install duct assembly (20) .

  1. Install instrument panel console (19) .

  1. Connect harness assembly (18). Wrap harness assembly (18) with electrical tape.

  1. Raise steering column assembly (17) .

  1. Install bolts (16) into the steering column assembly.

  1. Install screws (15). Tighten screws (15) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

  1. Install cover (14). Install screws (13). Tighten screws (13) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

  1. Install bolt (12) onto the left side of the duct assembly.

  1. Install bolt (11) .

  1. Connect harness assembly (8) and install a new cable strap (7) .

  1. Connect harness assemblies (9) and tighten screws (10) .

  1. Install bolt (6) onto the right side of the duct assembly.

  1. Install bolt (5) .

  1. Install a new cable strap (4) .

  1. Connect harness assemblies (2) and install a new cable strap (1) .

End By: Install the steering wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Wheel - Remove and Install" for the proper procedure.
