Usage:
D8R (9EM, 7XM) Track-Type Tractors
Description of Change: The former filter group uses a 101.6 x 228.6 mm (4 x 9 inch), 13 micron mesh (4T-3131) filter element. The new filter group has a 127.0 x 228.6 mm (5 x 9 inch), 40 micron mesh (1R-0741) filter element. This results in a 64 % increase in filter element capacity. The 4T-3131 Filter Element was required because the hydraulic system filter and the power train system filter were identical and side by side. Since the hydraulic system requires a 4T-3131 Filter, the identical side by side PTO filter used the same element to avoid getting the wrong element in the hydraulic system by mistake. The large PTO filter element now makes this impossible. Thus, allowing the use of a 40 micron mesh filter used on earlier D8N Track-Type Tractors.
Adaptable To: The new component is effective with D8R (7XM3686 except 7XM3687) and (9EM759) Track-Type Tractors. It is not practical to adapt the new, larger capacity filter to earlier D8R Track-Type Tractors.
